Motivational interviewing skills

Video (17 mins) exploring what motivational interviewing skills/approaches are. Although mainly used in healthcare settings, these skills are relevant to schools, particularly when seeking to help parents change in the interests of their children. This evidence-based approach doesn’t mean you need to become a counsellor, but it can help school staff learn simple responses and open questions which have a better chance of helping parents make change.
