October marks Black History Month in the UK - an opportunity to learn, reflect and celebrate the achievements and lasting influence of Black people.

The 2025 theme, ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’, celebrates the strength and leadership of Black people through history and looks ahead to a future built on pride and unity.

About this resource

The toolkit brings together free resources and activities to help your school or college mark the month in a meaningful way.

It encourages pupils and staff to:

  • explore the influence of positive role models
  • consider how racism and inequality can affect mental health
  • reflect on how culture, identity and connection support wellbeing.

We hope it inspires reflection and celebration in your setting, and encourages continued learning and appreciation of Black history and culture beyond October.
