Good practice when working with trans and non-binary young people
A good practice guide for those working with young people, to help them be inclusive of those who may be trans or non-binary, or those who are questioning their gender identity.
This short guide is split into three main sections, with emphasis on different ways staff can support young trans or non-binary people.
- Everyday practice - looking at more general gender inclusive actions to take, including using language thoughtfully and providing gender neutral options for facilities
- Providing support - looking at things to consider when a young person is exploring their gender or transitioning, including respecting their chosen name, creating a supportive environment and let the young person take the lead
- The wider setting - policies, education and training that support young trans or non-binary people people
