A set of two resources – a creative book and teacher guide – to help schools and colleges explore climate change, eco-emotions and migration stories through youth-led voices.

About this resource

Young People at a Crossroads was developed through an ESRC-funded research project, led by Dr Catherine Walker at the University of Manchester in collaboration with the University of Melbourne. 

The creative book presents youth-led stories of climate change and migration, with reflections and family accounts from Manchester and Melbourne. Their lived experiences are combined with illustrations and thematic summaries to support sensitive and reflective conversations about climate change. 

The educator guide builds on the book with adaptable strategies that can be used across subjects. It helps staff to: 

  • explore eco-emotions in constructive ways 

  • create inclusive classroom spaces for discussion 

  • link climate learning to whole-school and college priorities 

Using this resource

This resource is designed for:  

  • education staff working with students in secondary schools and colleges. 

Please note: the materials can be adapted for use with younger students if appropriate.
