A free webinar that looks at emotionally-based school avoidance and how to navigate this.
This 30-minute long webinar explains how to meet the needs of students struggling with emotionally-based school avoidance.
It looks at how education staff can navigate this issue alongside government guidance, referring back to government documentation throughout.
The webinar encourages education settings to work closely with parents and carers on this issue, whilst acknowledging circumstances where this may not be easy or possible.
Throughout the webinar, there is an emphasis on the importance of meeting the individual needs of students who are struggling with emotionally-based school avoidance. It encourages settings to adapt their perspectives of this issue to students’ specific circumstances.
The webinar includes practical guidance around how schools can work with their local authorities and makes clear what the expectations are of a mental health lead. It also emphasises what mental health leads are not responsible for, such as making a clinical diagnosis.
