Talk Relationships – hurtful behaviour

Secondary

A PSHE lesson resource that helps students aged 11 to 12 recognise hurtful behaviour, including sexualised and disrespectful conduct, and develop strategies to respond safely and seek support.

This resource belongs to the resource hub for classroom and wellbeing support.

This lesson from the NSPCC, developed in partnership with the PSHE Association, supports students aged 11 to 12 to understand the importance of respectful behaviour and recognise when behaviours become hurtful or unacceptable. It forms part of the Talk Relationships series, which helps schools and colleges to deliver inclusive, age-appropriate relationships and sex education.

  • explain what respectful behaviour looks like and why it matters

  • identify what constitutes unacceptable sexualised or hurtful behaviour

  • explore strategies for responding to and challenging hurtful behaviour
