The building blocks of good mental wellbeing

A guide explaining how a healthy lifestyle can positively impact staff mental health and wellbeing.

This resource from Education Support looks at the impact a healthy lifestyle can have on mental health and wellbeing. It encourages staff to create good habits in three key areas: exercise, diet and sleep.

The guide outlines the benefits of these key areas in a clear and easy to understand way. It also recognises the potential barriers to developing these habits and lists steps in how staff could get started.

It acknowledges that staff may feel too tired to exercise, however advises that walking for just 5 minutes can help with motivation and energy. It also lists the different ways we can incorporate movement into our days, such as joining an online class, taking the stairs instead of the lift, and remembering to stretch at your desk.

Mental health leads could signpost staff to this resource to support them with their wellbeing. It presents practical advice in a clear and judgement-free manner.
